  • ~Wonderful news! God is Answering our Prayers!~

Thank you to, a friend, who posted this news on the comments of my blog entry asking for prayers for Vivian Anastasia.

    Good news!

Kristen is healing well and is expected to be discharged from the hospital tomorrow.

The doctors seem very pleased with the progress Vivian is making. Immediately after birth, Vivian was responding only to very intensive ventilator assistance. Since then, the doctors have been gradually lowering the ventilator settings. Last night they even thought she might not need the ventilator anymore, and they let Vivian breathe on her own for about 1 and 1/2 hours before they put her back on a very low ventilator setting–her lungs are still not strong enough to do all the work on their own.

Touching Vivian is still discouraged at this point, though Kristen was allowed to lift Vivian up and even to change a couple of diapers. Vivian is expected to be moved to a new room in a brand new Intensive Care wing, where she will have her own room (with a bed for Kristen, too). They expect the hospital stay to be in the 6-8 week range, if all goes well.

Peter asked us to pray for Kristen especially as they transition to several weeks of life in a hospital room. He also said they would be glad to hear from folks through cards and/or notes.

  • Praise God for Kristen’s healing and Vivian’s progress! I’ll continue to pray for them!

  • Here is an update from this morning from Kristen’s sister-in-law:

Within a week there should be a website up that Peter and Kristen will be able to update. Right now there are only a few pictures on it. Check it out:

Everything was stable yesterday and Vivian is starting to open her eyes. She took a little bit more milk, which went well.

Peter and Kristen are settling into the new unit with her and they were both able to get out for a meal together yesterday and a few other distractions.

They aren’t able to have flowers or plants in their room at this time. Notes and cards are appreciated.
