~Some odds and ends said around our house lately~
Jonah, aged 6, said to me the other day, “Mom were you alive when the dinosaurs were on earth?” Uh, maybe we need to show that kid a timeline!
Then, last night, after watching TLC’s, “Jon and Kate + 8″ and “Kids by the Dozen”, while we were all cuddled up in our bed, Jonah asked me if I was pregnant and when I said, “I don’t think so.”, he added, “Well, can you be pregnant by the morning?” He then went on to tell his brothers, that if everyone is well behaved God will give us another baby! I am not going to argue with his thinking, whatever motivates good behavior is alright by me!
Nicholas – about his best friend Dean (Constandinos) and let me just preface this with saying that our old parish was called, St. Constantine and Helen and that Dean goes to my hometown parish, “Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas”. The other night at dinner Nicholas said, “The only thing I miss about our old Church is that I went to St. “DEAN” church and Dean went to St. “ME” Church.”
The boys all have tooth tunes toothbrushes. One of them plays Queen, “We Will Rock You”. Maria~Angelica now sings, “We will we Rock you”. Which is quite hilarious coming out of her little dainty two year old mouth, which also sings, “Baaa, Baaa Black Sheep.” It is very funny to hear her in her car seat singing, “We will Rock You!”
BTW because of tooth tunes Basil-age 10, and I, had a nice discussion about one of the world’s greatest rock bands, “Queen”, Freddie Mercury, homosexuality and AIDS. So you see you don’t have to have any “great big talks”, things just come up when they come up. My greatest memory of Freddie Mercury was when I was 17 years old and at ”Live Aid”- Wembly Stadium, London. His performance was awesome!!! Freddie Mercury was among one of the first people I remember dying of complications to AIDS. So sad…
And just this morning my 2 year old daughter told me, “Mom I want to go shopping!’ OYE VYE!! Is she starting young or what?! Thankfully, she is happy going to the grocery store and the consignment shop, for now.
Life sure is interesting with a 10, 8, 6 and 2 year old. It is always fascinating to hear what is on their mind and how they think.

Adorable! :sunny:
Hi! You don’t know me, but I happened on your blog a while back when a friend from an email list pointed it out. I’m an Orthodox mom (and PK) in Kansas. I LOVE the quote about St. DEAN and St. ME!! I’ve been collecting such funny quotes from Orthodox kids and posting them on my Orthodox Circle site. Can I have this one to include? Check out some hilarious ones from my kids on OC, I’m Erin there.
We have that DVD set, and Freddie Mercury OWNED that concert. Anyway, all of those things made me smile, music, St. Dean and St. Me, and the baby!
So cute!
I love the “me” church!
Lisa those were just adorable!! Thanks for sharing your joy with us. I especially loved Jonah’s concept on you getting pregnant! :p
LOL
Sure Erin, feel free to share that story on Orthodox Circle. I used to be on Orthodox Circle too. I don’t know if I still am since it went subscriptions. Send me a link to your page, if you can. Nice to “meet” you and If you are interested please feel free to join my message board http://www.orthodoxchat.com too!
Amen, Mimi! I need to buy that DVD set. That concert was so pivotal in my teenage life!
OC is NOT going subscriptions. They opted for a new optional pledging system and are trying to also start some other fundraising. So log on and check it out. I’m sure you’re probably still there. I’ll try to find you.
If you are against abortion please sign the petition against the Freedom of Choice act on my site, If and when you do please tell all of your friends about it. Thanks. -Derek-

ryc: you caught me! :giggle: It’s crazy because around 5 or 6pm I am ready to crash and many times I think to myself that I can’t possibly do one more minute with the kids, dinner or anything else. Then after I know for sure the kids are all tucked in and asleep it’s like my mind goes a hundred miles an hour and I get a second wind. Being a reflective person I think the quiet of the night draws me in!
on the phone calls at night… my Mom always laughs because she says I am the only one she knows that she can call at all hours and actually get me awake! So I do take late night calls! Some of my sleep issues I think were caused by all the late calls from the ministry. It’s hard for a Pastor’s wife to sleep through dh being on the phone with a suicidal student. I’m up praying!!!
