The boys had their Fine Arts Night a few weeks ago but I am just now getting around to sharing the photos. All the children did such a phenomenal job. It is amazing how much talent there is at such a small school; we will miss this aspect of Mars Hill Academy. We all really enjoyed the medley from “Les Miserable” performed by the Rhetoric School Choir and also the Celtic band, The Real McCoys – they have produced their first album, “Mile 67″. It was a bittersweet night knowing it would be the last time the boys would be performing as MHA students. Basil and Nicholas were both chosen to sing the “Alleluia Canon” based on Nachtigallenkanon by Joseph Haydn and Basil’s class also performed “My Jesus, I love Thee” – Wm. R. Featherstone.
The boy’s artwork was also on display. Yet another thing I will miss about Mars Hill. The art teacher, Mrs. Wong, is just amazing. The art they study and make corresponds with the history they are studying. The backbone of a Classical education is the study of history in chronological order. 1st grade studies ancient Egypt, 2nd grade ancient Greece and 3rd grade ancient Rome and so on. Basil has benefitted from all three years at MHA and next year at Rivendell they will study the Byzantine Empire, so he will be right on track.

Your kids are so sweet.
Though I did chuckle when, amidst the photos of all these children, you read on the screen “By the futility of their very existence.” :giggle:
