Just wondering…….Are you going to be homeschooling? I went through and tried to catch up on your blog. I didn’t realize you were moving and your entry before this one made me want to cry. I pray God’s blessings upon your lives in your new home.
We’ve only used SL 5, but liked it (I take that back. We’ve done their Sci 5 and are now doing Sci 6). I used it the first year my dd started homeschooling, and am repeating it now w my ds, who’s in his 1st year of homeschooling. After dd finished that, we started following the Well Trained Mind, which I am also planning to follow for my littles. I think that, for a beginning homeschooler it is especially GREAT. We’ve really enjoyed it.
Dear Presvitera, There is a wonderful yahoo group that focuses on classical education. You can find us here: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/OrthodoxClassicalHS/ I have not used those curriculea. I have mainly used recommendations from the Well Trained Mind when I needed something, many people there do though. There is also a forum on http://www.paideaclassics.com where there are reviews of many curriculea. This site is a wonferful Orthodox resource! I’d be glad to answer more questions if you have any (that I can answer). We have always home schooled and love it. May I ask why you have decided to go this route? Is it because you moved? In any case, homeschooling can be such a rewarding and wonderful journey! Good luck with it!
ryc: Yes, do keep us posted! I should join the board
We have used TOG 2, for the Colonial America Unit. It is good. The kids liked the reading choices, and it is very well organized for teaching multiple age ranges. We did not do it for Ancients this year.
