  • ~Why I “waste” spend time on the computer~

I never intended to be an Orthodox Christian apologist; I was just another mother on a Christian parenting site sharing my Christian faith, and being myself. I am humbled by the fruit my time on the computer has yielded over the last couple years. It has been my joy to share my life in Christ and  Orthodox Christianity. Glory be to God!

“Oh, and Presv. Lisa, I hope your ears were tingling this weekend, because a lot of people asked where I learned about Orthodoxy, and you were one of the most influential people in my journey.” :o

“What a wonderful family you have.  I must tell you that while I have mentioned this B4, your blog has totally helped me to change my mind about Greek Orthodox Churches…. period.  It’s hard to get into in a blog, but suffice it to say, it appears there is soooooooooooooooooooooooo much more to your life and faith than just ritual and icons and I am impressed with you.”

  • Ditto both comments! (((Hugs)))

  • [Dear Lord, let me keep this short because Lisa gets a lot of comments and she has a baby to care for! :p]

I did not know a thing about Orthodoxy till I started reading your blog.  I found it on the BIG FAMILIES ARE GREAT! blogring and thought, “How interesting,” because I had never even given Orthodoxy a thought (except for when I watched ‘Fiddler on the Roof’ and Chavah married the Russian Orthodox boy!)  I will be honest with you, Lisa—in the Protestant churches we have been part of, Orthodoxy is looked at as a “state religion,” something like the Church of England and you know how Protestant America feels about church and state!  And a state religion is viewed as something that people are part of out of habit and there’s no possibility that they might actually have a living relationship with God through Christ.  My great-grandmas on my mother’s side were both Godly Polish Catholic ladies that have been “excused” for their Catholicism by the Protestant relatives because they both came from Poland as children and so they couldn’t “help” their religion.  It is all caused by misunderstanding and it drives me crazy.  We judge and accuse and forget we are to love mercy and walk humbly.  We had a guest speaker at church on Sunday, a missionary to Africa, and I will tell you that it is a miracle my husband didn’t punch him right in the nose six or seven times.  There are many churches where this man lives (primarily Catholic and Pentecostal) and he has decided they are all dragging people right to hell and he has to get those churches empty in short order.  As I said, I have a Polish Catholic heritage on my mother’s side.  My husband has a flamin’ Pentecostal heritage on his father’s side.  Needless to say, it wasn’t difficult for us to find the missionary offensive.  I was blessed to miss the entire service because Simon is nursing constantly these days.  My husband was fuming.  My HOPE is that other people were too.  I guess we’ll find out.  But it is easy to judge when you keep yourself apart from everyone who isn’t exactly like you.  Instead, when we start to love others, we find we like them , too, and that there is so much we share in Christ that the rest of it doesn’t matter so much.  A little education goes a long way because it leads to understanding.  Thank you for your willingness to educate.  ~Kristyn

(I guess it did get long.  Sorry!)

  • As you know I am not orthodox but my faith is always strengthened as I get a glimpse into your family’s life!! I love our online friendship! We drove through your state while coming out to MO and I made sure to pray for your family the entire time we drove through. Praying for God’s blessings as your family is a light for Christ!

With the deep friendships and ministry you have created here I would hardly call it “wasting” your time  Keep on blessings us with the light of Christ you have to shine and your beautiful countenance!!! :sunny:

  • Oh, I ditto. Just reading how you live your faith is inspiring. And the saints’ days that you post are wonderful, and inspire me to continue reading the saints. And I love the glimpses into your family life, too! (Thanks for changing this background btw)

  • Lisa, you were the reason I even looked at Orthodoxy, if it weren’t for you and your witness, I don’t know where I would be. Your online time is certainly no waste!!:heartbeat:

  • ditto!

    Thank you for your time.

  • I stand corrected! I have never thought of it as wasted time in the least!

  • As you know, me too!  I thank God you wasted some time on me :)

  • Thank you for your site.  I have learned so much from you.  God bless you and I thank Him for leading me to your site.

  • All of these comments are so lovely to read, dear Presbytera Lisa! You are a wonderful witness for our faith, and much beloved. I am blessed to know you.
