I think I found the house for me! LOL!! I really like this little house. It was once a Russian Orthodox Church. What do you think about a Church being turned into a house? We are discussing it on www.Orthodoxchat.com. Click HERE to see the thread.

Oh! That is beautiful! If we lived in Ohio, I would jump on it like a chicken on a bug!
THAT IS SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!!! Oh it reminds me sooo much of Ukraine. My kids would love it!
ryc: our travels are only beginning!!
Our schedule is jammed pack until about January.
I pray the Lord gives me the health, strength and patience to fulfill all of this!
beautiful! There are lots of old little churches (nothing nearly as spectacular as that
)in the neighborhoods around hereand it has always been my dream to buy one and convert it to a home.
:coolman: That is incredible! Wow, is it in your area??? That is a fantastic find!!!! Gorgeous! :coolman:
Wasn’t it St. John Chrysostom who said something about a home being like a little church?
I used to think it was kind of sad when I heard of churches being renovated into homes… until a church we knew of was turned into a night club. Much better that a family own it, I think. I know if I lived in a house that had been a church I would feel a responsibility to continue using it for God’s purposes and glory. We have always thought it would be neat to live in an old one-room schoolhouse. :sunny:
That’s beautiful, and not a bad price, either! I wouldn’t have a problem with it. Obviously, an Orthodox congregation would never leave holy things in the church when they vacate it, and if the place is holy, maybe it would rub off on to the folks who move in. I need to head to OC to read the conversation there.
i would never buy it. unless the cupolas are blue with stars, you’re getting cheated.
As I posted on another list, I wouldn’t mind owning it — maybe my husband would be inspired to convert.
Seriously, at least it’s not like the place where I work, a town office that used to be a Catholic church. Every time I see the offices that occupy where the *altar* used to be, I want to scream. Which reminds me about this house — anyone have any idea what’s in the place where the altar used to be??
BTW, Presvytera — the gold on the light blue is very difficult to read.
WOW!! That is $130,00!! For a home like that… I say go for it!!!!!! I’m the spontaneous one. DH would put more thought behind it.:wha: But I think it’s cool! :goodjob:
Thank you Pres. Lisa…its always good to have a friend who doesnt have a problem knocking me over the head.
:goodjob: :littlekiss:
What a beautiful home. I could see all of you in it. Imagine all that space.
I think it would be neat. My house used to be a one room school house. Dh’s mom went to school here and his grandma taught here. I think it’s cool to have a house that has a story behind it. That’s an awesome price for a house like that!
