  • She is simply gorgeous! I’m in love

  • oh she’s precious…love those feet!!

  • So cute!  That is such a unique way of taking a picture too, in the basket from up above.  She just is so cute and you get to see all of her… even her precious toes!

  • I meant to ask if it’s traditional to give a gift to one’s godparents for Easter/Pascha.  Our Nouna told me she is bringing a basket by for Mara, as well as her Pascha candle.  I wasn’t sure if we should reciprocate, but I’ve planned to give a red Pascha egg to her kids along with a chocolate cross on a stick I found at the pharmacy owned by parish members.  Also, I want to get a photo album together with pics and comments about the baptism, but I haven’t done it yet.  This week has been so busy.  Maybe we’ll do some after the service this afternoon.   So, am I doing alright?  I’m really not sure if I can do much more at this time.

  • I think it is more common for the godparent to give  the child  gifts then the other way around. Two of my childhood friends’ children are my godchildren, I am best friends with the mothers, they give Fr. and me a gift for Christmas and me a gift on my b-day.  Growing up my mom always made sure we bought a Christmas present and b-day present for my Godfather. The birthday presents are really more because the two girls are my best friends and my Nouno and my brother share a birthday so we always celebrated together. I do think you are doing the right thing by exchanging with her children since she is bringing something for Mara; that’s nice! There are no hard and fast rules but in Greece the Godparents do always get their godchild a Pascha candle and a pressie (we don’t really do that over here, at least not what I have seen). They go all out in Greece for Easter candles for kids , they are really a big deal and have stuff on them for children, costly too.  I love the idea of a photo album of pics for the baptism for the Godparents , that is a great gift.

  • She’s really something else, Lisa.  She should be in commercials (who wants to have their kid go anywhere near show business though!)

  • hehehe! That is funny you should say that, I agree with you about show business (I started out at college studying theatre and graduated with a History degree) , but recently the boys have gone on a few auditions, just for the fun of it. I used to do a bit of this and that as a kid/teen and it was fun. Basil is starting at the children’s theatre next week.

  • Thanks, Lisa.  I didn’t get the pics developed today, so it will depend on if I can get to it tomorrow.  I just realized how early tomorrow’s Liturgy is, so I’m no longer planning to go.  (If I’m awake, I’ll go, but I won’t set my alarm for tomorrow.)  Hopefully, I’ll get to it.

    What is a pressie?

  • Oh, I meant to say that the candle she got for Mara is one they had at the bookstore–I bet tons of people will have the same candle tomorrow night!  It’s got a ribbon with the icon of the resurrection in a small, quarter-size circle.  I’ll probably just plan to get the plain candle they’ll have at the church tomorrow.  That one, at least, will have a cup to catch the wax!

  • OMg LISA!!!!!!  She is DEFINATELY angelic!!!!!!!  How she is sitting there it looks like there is light radiating behind her.  It is really pretty.  She is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I just can’t get over it.  You should submit that to an agency of some sort.  Like a Downy commercial, or Snuggle, something like that!!  TOO Cute!!!

  • SO BEAUTIFUL!!!!

  • THAT is absolutely precious!
