~Tammy Faye~
Today’s post is a comment I made on trooperdog’s blog. He recently posted this tribute video and the following is a comment I made on his blog. I don’t remember if I posted about Tammy Faye when she died but I thought I would share my thoughts now. It may be a stretch for some people to see the comparison but I admired Tammy Faye that she showed the world what death looked like. We live in a society that doesn’t value life or death and she appreciated BOTH and wasn’t afraid of either one!
I always liked her, even though her theology was WAY different then mine (I am Greek Orthodox born and raised and married to a Greek Orthodox priest). Tammy Faye had real compassion for everyone and she suffered a very noble death and at the end of her life, despite all her make-up, she glowed like the Saints that went before her and had the peace that only the love of Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit can give one. She faced death with the JOY of the Risen Christ and true anticipation of the life to come. In many ways she looked to me like St. Mary of Egypt. St. Mary of Egypt has quite a story and icon. God Bless Tammy Faye, she was a loving, compassionate Christian whose theology was simplistic but she had something a lot of Christians don’t have and that is PURE LOVE for people! May her memory be eternal!

I love, love, love Tammy Faye! I have some of her interviews saved on my DVR that I still watch sometimes.
