Interesting thread on www.Orthodoxchat.com. I am still planning on posting baptism pictures. It has been a really busy week and weekend; I haven’t had anytime to work on the computer. Hope everyone is well.

I’m not orthodox but would you be interested in knowing the thoughts from a non-orthodox? I really didn’t have any big impressions (before meeting Eric’s cousins who are Russian Orthodox and then your precious family) beyond the fact that I knew church history and tradition was very important to the orthodox churches! I also knew the orthodox churches were beautifu!!!! I didn’t know that there were the three different orthodox -Greek, Russian and Serbian. When I thought orthodox I always thought of Russia. I basically thought it was Russia’s equivalent of Catholicism. OK, so ya I was pretty naive to orthodoxy all together! :giggle:
Now after learning a little bit more I honestly am a little concerned about the focus on icons and saints.
I am also very surprised at the amount of former Assemblies of God people on the chat group that claim the AoG believe in certain things that are *very* innacurate and I have a hard time believing they really were Assemblies of God because their knowledge of AoG is at the least so misunderstood. I’m sure a lot like I misunderstand Orthodoxy and speak w/out really being fully educated about it?
Hi Sarah, thank you so much for sharing all your questions and concerns with me. You are always welcome to post on my board as well. I don’t allow any rudeness at all and we are really known for being a loving non confrontational board. I will be happy to introduce you to everyone so you feel more comfortable and welcomed. Tamara comes from an AoG background. I don’t know much about AoG myself. I did attended a AoG school in the 8th grade and got along wonderfully with the students the only thing was I wasn’t considered a Christian because I didn’t have testimony about how I was saved. I was baptized as a baby and had never known a life without Christ.
There is a blog ring called Assemblies of God to Eastern Orthodoxy .
Your questions about Saints and icons are very good ones here are some links that will be helpful in understanding more.

Prayer and the Departed Saints
There are a lot of very good articles written for common Protestant questions about Orthodoxy on this link .

I would like to know from non-Orthodox myself about the questions I asked on that thread. Anyone is welcome to post. I will only allow friendly open discussion no harsh debate. We are a Christian board and Christians are called to love not be contentious with one another. I hope that helps Sarah; you know I have nothing but love and admiration for you and Eric and your precious children.
Thank you Lisa! I will be reading those links you provided me…. I have always respected how much you approach questions etc about orthodoxy with such love and grace!
