One year ago yesterday after we returned home from baptizing and Chrismating the Clark family (See my previous post) we found out that we were expecting Maria~Angelica! It was such a miracle and we couldn’t have been more excited! What a blessed year it has been and we have all enjoyed the last 4 months so much!!
Yesterday Maria~Angelica turned 4 months old and on the lap of Papou Nick she enjoyed her first taste of organic baby rice. These last 4 month she has brought our whole family so much joy and pleasure!
GLORY BE TO GOD!
The boys and their “pretty, pretty princess”!

What a joy to have such a family!! God is so good!! What an honor it is to be a mother, isn’t it??? God knows women so well (He should, though:lol:) but He just amazes me. The whole birth process from start to finish just keeps me in awe. We had a miracle taking place, and growing, moving WITHIN us!! OH LORD, words can’t express my gratitude to be a part of such a miracle. I Praise Him for creating life, entrusting me, with what is His. There is really no emoticon for this one!!!!!!!!!
Precious!! :heartbeat:
How beautiful are your children!!!
So absolutely precious–I mean your entire family.
What a wonderful anniversary!
If my feet had those on them, I couldn’t stop looking either
:sunny:She’s just precious!! How fun is it to dress her up in pink girly clothes and headbands with bows and bonnets?? So fun!! :sunny:
Hey, you made comment about the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding not being realistic or something?? But Nia Vardalos said it was the telling of her actual wedding and courtship…. so… what gives??
:spinning:
Oh, also, in your website stats.. if you put a < BR > (without spaces) before Jonah’s picture code, it will automatically go to the bottom line in front of his ticker.
Thank you for you sweet words.:sunny:
Sarah! You are a peach! Thank you so much for telling me how to fix Jonah’s ticker!!!
Well I don’t know where to start with that movie. I felt it was a parody. Here are a couple things off the top of my head and in no particular order.
1. Nia was raised in Canada and the Greeks there seem to be much more Greek. My grandparents came from Greece but my parents were born here so that makes me a second generation America where Nia is a first generation Canadian.
2. The adult baptism would not have a women rubbing oil all over a man. The priest would anoint the person being baptized with Holy Oil with a small paint brush, see the photos in my previous post where Alana and Tim are being Christmated. Also while they do do full adult immersion baptisms they would be wearing something not have a bare chest.
3. I was never discouraged from going to college. I grew up going in a large Greek Orthodox Church and all my circle of friends and everyone I knew was actually encourage to go to college. Greek Americans are among the highest educated people in America.
4. I have never had or have seen a crazy Yiayia screaming about the Turks.
5. I have seen some people encouraged to marry someone that is also Greek but never forced too. I do have friends that married non Greeks. I married a Greek man from Athens, Greece but not because I had to. I just happened to fall in love with someone from Greece. Everyone I know married for love they did not have arranged marriage. But that scene in the movie is one of my favorites and I can imagine it happening to some girls. Poor girls!!
6. I did have friends with plastic on their couches and friends whose dad would make cook a full lamb outside, but it was always in the back yard.:fun:
7. We do have huge readings but most of us have good taste and don’t do all that froufrou, I can see that happening in big cities like Toronto, Chicago and NYC though.
8. When her dh in the movie was baptized and Christmated he said “now I am Greek”. That line was in correct actually , being baptized and christmated makes you an Orthodox Christian not Greek.
9. I loved the father in that movie and I do the same thing he does , not the Windex, the breaking down of words to find the Greek root. It is actually very helpful to and fun. :fun:
10. The working in restaurants is very realistic but those folks I know who own restaurants have children that become doctors and lawyers. The WANT their children to be educated and earning a living as a professional.
11. We don’t pass out platters of meat and eat with our hands.
12. In general I think that movie exaggerated.
13. I don’t know anyone with a Greek flag painted on their garage door, although I did laugh my head off.:spinning:
14. I know a few people with replica ancient Greek art statues but the are always in their house not outside.
15. I didn’t like the fact that she sleep with the guy.:(
16. The living next door was really cute and I would say that is realistic that Greek parents like to have their dc near them and often help them buy a house. I would love to live next door to my parents , we are about a half hour away and did actually move back from England to be near them.
Anything else you want to know?:)
:heartbeat:  The pictures are just wonderful!! I love the one’s especially of the boys surrounding Maria~Anglica!
I really enjoyed reading your comments about the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding too!! I always wondered about the movie and kind of guessed that a lot of it was exaggerated to make a funny movie. I wanted to watch it to get my first glimpse of the inside of an Orthodox Church! :fun:
Awwh – beautiful! =)
I LOVE the pictures of the boys with their sister! How sweet!
Does everyone in your family have those gorgeous eyes?? How beautiful! :sunny:
I see you have 3 boys and one girl. We are expecting our third boy this May. People keep asking us if we’re going to try for a girl, and I think that’s funny. We just tell them we don’t try for a boy or girl, we just try for a child!
Beth three boys is a lot of fun! Enjoy!:heartbeat:
I give much the same answer “whatever God wants!”:goodjob:
