We had a full day yesterday. We managed to squeeze in two Feast Days
, a couple good meals and a movie! At Church we celebrated Theophany (Epiphany) with the Blessing of the waters after the Divine Liturgy. Then as a congregation we went to a local lake for the Blessing of the Waters and the diving for the cross. Then we went home, made a nice lunch, cut our family Vasilopita (which is traditionally done on Jan. 1, St. Basil’s Day) and then we took the boys to see The Chronicles of Narnia and to Bravo! for dinner. The movie was great, the boys knew the story and they were so cute whispering to me about what was going to happen next. Maria~Angelica was her sweet little self and she slept in her sling the whole movie. Here are some pics of our day.
What is nice about my Mom’s Vasilopita is there is a coin in the bread for each child! That is a Yiayia for you!

The End

Ahhhh…that’s a cute Niki pic. Thank you!:heartbeat:
isn’t that cute? I was going to make a caption for it letting everyone know she is your dd.
I love the pictures!!!!!!!! Can you tell my husband is stressed to the max – he’s the ONLY one not smiling in the picture with all the altar servers and Father. Please keep him in your prayers.
P.S. LOL – the shot of Nicholas is cute and funny how it perfectly covers his face. Your boys are too cute.
P.P.S. – Okay one more comment. I love the pictures of all of us following Father in the procession. Those were my favorite last year and they are my favorite this year. Something about them just gives me the warm fuzzies.
I know , I like the procession too! It would be great if we could all learn to sing the troparion hymn for next year.
I did notice that about Les. I am worried about him. :heartbeat: As for Nicholas I believe that is intentional, because when I asked him about that, he giggled! LOL!:fun:
I edit that photo of Niki and I am going to e-mail it to you.:sunny:
LOL – Nicholas is too cute. Last comment and then I’m going to bed. (Time escapes me when I’m on the computer.) I LOVE the picture of Father’s hand about to throw the cross. Awesome shot! As for Les, I’m trying to keep his mind off of work right now. Everytime he thinks about it he gets so upset that his stomach literally hurts. He’s worried about providing for his family. I can calm him down most of the time but not all of the time. Lord have mercy. Goodnight.
:heartbeat: Good night! Lord Have Mercy!
I love the pictures, especially the ones of Maria~Angelica, she is precious! The last is great.
I love “The End” picture.
Those were really nice. :sunny:
Beautiful pictures, as usual. This was the first one of M~A where I can really see who she is other than just a cute little newborn. I love her eyes!
In case you’re interested, I ran across this article re Million Little Pieces. I haven’t read the whole thing yet:

I love your sense of humor Lisa! Here I am reflecting on your beautiful, spiritual day and then I see little Maria~Angelica’s bottom :giggle: Looks like a wonderful day for sure!!! Your little men are just sooo adorable and spiritually mature! :sunny:
Who do you think Maria~Angelica looks like the most. On Sunday, I thought I saw a glimpse of Jonah in her and then in the picture above – I see a lot of Basil in her. Too cute none the less though.
I think she looks a lot like Nicholas, when Nicholas was a baby. She doesn’t photograph too well though; I think she looks much different and cuter in person.
Thanks for the link Tracy I am reading it now. WOW, I am not too surprised though; they mention a lot of things I wondered about like how he managed to graduate from Dennison. I do feel betrayed though , no wonder he doesn’t believe in God, he seems to have know conscience, he really stretches the truth and just plain out lies.
“Amazingly, though he was reportedly a vomiting drunken addict bleeding from various orifices, Frey was able to graduate from Denison on time in 1992 (talk about managing your addiction!). Maybe it was support from fellow brothers at the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity that helped the Michigan high school outcast persevere. Makes you wonder if Frey had shot heroin, perhaps he would have also snagged a master’s.”
Wonderful photos – your church is beautiful and the procession is wonderful.
I’ve never encountered the releasing of the dove in my tradition, but I saw it on the Tarpon Springs article as well.
Christ is Baptized!
Mimi, that’a interesting , I was actually wondering if the OCA and AOC dive for the cross or is that just a GOC tradition? I didn’t know that about the dove either though.
Christ is Baptized!
beautiful pictures!
In the Jordan – I think the diving for the cross is a GOA tradition too. I’ve never seen it (it’s awfully cold in Russia this time of year, and while not as cold in my neck of the woods, no one is getting in the water here either). I have seen some of the kids reach in and grab it from the creek, but they are wearing coats and not getting too wet.
Lisa:
James Frey is going to be on Larry King tomorrow (Wednesday). Now I’m finally going to go and read that article.
Thanks Tracy , my mom just told me too. The little fraud! I am going to watch for sure. I hope Oprah has him on again, THAT’s a show I want to see!
I was in Tennessee for theophany, and my friends OCA parish dove for the cross. I’ve heard of some AOC churches doing the same as well.
uh…WHO is James Frey???? :spinning:
