Month: July 2005

  • I haven’t blogged in few days. I haven’t been feeling too well lately. We did take the boys up to our church festival for a few hours today. They had a blast in the children’s section and then they sat for an hour enjoying Pavlo.   Pavlo was fantastic!!

I was able to work in our Church bookstore from 12-2 and then again from 5-8:30. I love talking to people about the Church and Orthodox Christianity.  The crowds were great and so many people came for the Church tours. We gave out so much literature that I ran out of flyers. There are so many interesting people out there with so many questions.

Here is a look at the festival schedule.

  • Hello everyone I missed you guys. This is a cross post from the www.orthodoxchat.com messge board.  I thought  I would just cut and paste here to fill ya’ all in. Hope everyone is well.

We have had a busy week since returning. We were all really tired and just needed to catch up on our sleep. I have a sore throat, stuffy nose and an earache. I just want to rest.

Monday morning though the boys had day camp and I had a doctor’s appt.
I went in there with questions about my leg ,that comes out of the joint  making it very hard and painful to walk and the vulvar varicosity that hurts so much. I came out with iron pills and appt for a 3 hours glucose test!! Rolling Eyes

I had no idea my blood levels were so low and I was not expecting to have to go for another glucose test. I don’t have the results yet but it was very hard to be at the lab at 8 am and stay there for 3 hours. I do have the best husband in the world and he is making it as easy as he possibly can on me and making sure I am able to lay down and rest.

I so hope I can enjoy this pregnancy before it ends…. it may be my last, only God knows.

I am hoping after I go to the PT on Tuesday for my leg that I will be able to walk. The vein thing I am still waiting to hear back from the doc. I showed her the Rutin a friend from  www.MOMYS.com recommended and I have a V2 support belt but that doesn’t stop it all the time.

Also this week we had to get a plumber out here to unclog our kitchen sink and a PC guy to tell us that yes indeed we have lost our mother board on our 2 year old dell. Fr. bought a reasonably priced HP desk top and then we discovered the storm had also blown out our cable modem. Two cable guys later that is now fixed as well. It has been a costly week with too many repair men keeping me from my afternoon nap!! Wink

On an up note I decided to join Fr. and the boys at the movies and we just got back from “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.” The kids were happy I came with them as they have only seen me in bed or coming and going from the doctor’s this week.

So it is good to be back. I don’t know how often I will be on though. It is hard to sit for too long. I feel better when I am laying down. Oh the doc also said I am measuring bigger… don’t know what that means, my due date as already been moved up once. I am praying it is not gestational diabetes. Baby seems fine. She is on the move all the time, and all over the place making it hard to sleep, but she is very gentle.
    Smile

  • We arrived home safely yesterday afternoon. Thank you for all your prayers. I did get a scooter at Disney. There was no other way I could have done it.  We had a wonderful time. We spent one day at Magic Kingdom and one at Epcot. Our computer is down and I am posting from my parent’s house.  Hopefully we will get our computer fixed soon and I can post some pics. I did get one or two pregnancy ones and some nice ones of the boys.

  • Okay pray for us! I don’t know quite how I am going to get through 2 days at Disney , but I am going to give it my best shot!. Today we leave Sarasota and head to Orlando. Wednesday and Thursday will be the two  days we will be walking the parks.  I have this weird thing where my legs come out of the joints/sockets and just freeze up. See my blog

Please just pray for us that all goes well and I am able to have a good time with my children.

Ever see the movie “Weekend at Bernie’s”? Sometimes I feel like Bernie!

  • Yesterday we went to Church at  St. Barbara’s Greek Orthodox Church in Sarasota. It is a beautiful church. Five years ago my cousin Sandra was married at St. Barbara’s and Basil then 3 was the ring bearer.

Saint Barbara Greek Orthodox Church - Please Come In!

After Church we  had a nice lunch  with Sandra, Gary , Brooke, Logan and Thea Voula at First Watch. We took a drive through Venice. I needed a afternoon nap and the boys enjoyed a swim.  I enjoyed a swim with them after my nap. We are planning to go on a dolphin cruise Tuesday morning and then head to Orlando. We can check in to our hotel at 3 and we have dinner reservations at Chef Mickey‘s at 9. We can see the fireworks from there as well.  On Wednesday the plan is to go to Magic Kingdom , then on Thursday Epcot. We will get a good nights sleep and start driving back on Friday. I made reservations to spend the night on the Chattanooga ChooChoo for Friday night. So that is about 9 hours driving on Friday and the rest on Saturday. Getting us home in time to get some  sleep and get to Church on Sunday morning.

Most likely I won’t have computer access while we are in Orlando. And the night before we left  for Florida a big storm blew out our computer, even though we have a surge protector. I will have to work on getting our computer fixed Monday when we get back. So I most likely won’t be able to blog after we leave my Thea’s house on Tuesday.

  • Today we went back to St. Armand’s  and Colombia’s  for lunch. Where we again enjoyed the 1905 salad. This time we had the black bean cakes too! Yummy!!!

We took the boys to the Gulfcoast Wonder and Imagination Zone , a hand’s on science museum. It was great and free!  The have reciprocal admission with the Cincinnati Museam Center  where we are members.  We passed the time quite nicely; as it was rainy and miserable outside. We spent two hours testing everything out and then headed to Betsy and Bill’s house. I love their new house, so bright and floridaish!  The boys again had fun playing with little Logan. We all came back to Thea Voula’s house for a great dinner of shish-ka-bob on the grill. We asked my cousins Betsy and Sandra and their husband’s Bill and Gary to be the Godaparents for little Maria~Angelica. I think it took them by surprise but I know they are VERY happy and willing  Godparents. My two cousins are like sisters to me and I can’t imagine better Godmothers. Maria~Angelica is already a very blessed little girl!!! Three brothers , two names and four Godparents!! Not to mention all the other friends and family that love her so!

  • Yesterday we took the boys to  Myakka River State Park  , it was a nice sunny day. We enjoyed  an airboat ride on  Myakka Lake. Our airboat was called, the Gator Gal. We saw a few alligators; most were underwater trying to stay cool!.

Today we have a bit of a stormy day. The boys have already enjoyed their morning  swim, in Thea Voula’s pool.  The news is full of reports of hurricane Dennis. It looks like it will pass to the west of us. It rained all night, it was great sleeping weather! The boys are really enjoying their little cousin Logan. Thea Voula made a nice dinner for everyone.  The boys had a little swim and  spent the rest of the evening  playing with 14 month old Logan. I will upload some pics when we get back. The plan is to go to Church in Sarasota in the morning. Hopefully the storms will pass and we can enjoy one or two more sunny days on  Siesta Key beach  before heading to Orlando on Tuesday.
